The WOLT Difference

The Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team is an approved AAP and supports all levels of Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Expeditions, both on foot and by Canoe.

• WOLT has a knowledgeable and experienced DofE Manager.
• WOLT places great emphasis on the quality of experience for participants and has high standards, while recognising the need for schools and colleges to keep activity prices as low as possible for their pupils.

All of our expeditions come with a dedicated expedition leader with experience leading expeditions. All packages include full training, practice, and assessed expeditions.

Our ratios for DofE expeditions:

We strive to provide on all expeditions and training days with more than 4 teams:

• 1 x Dedicated Supervisor. Responsible for the expedition and all staff but not teaching or training a specific group

On training days:

• 1 x Qualified Instructor for 2 groups to teach basic map work, route planning, tent use, stove use, back packing and first aid.

On Practice expeditions:

• 1 x Instructor per team.

This high level of supervision allows for fantastic training and development of each team leading to remote supervision from this Instructor On Qualifying Expeditions:

• 1 Instructor Assessing 2 teams. This allows our Assessors to get to know all the students in their care over the 2 days to provide a good personalized report at the end of the expedition.
